The Hayward SP1419B is a HydroStream directional flow return jet with a 3/8 inch opening, finished in white. It threads into a standard 1-1/2 inch MIP return fitting and replaces a worn or missing eyeball.
The 3/8 inch opening
The opening size sets how the water leaves the wall. At 3/8 inch the stream is narrow and fast, which reaches further across the pool. Hayward makes the same HydroStream in larger openings, so pick the size by how much reach you want against how much back pressure you are willing to add.
Aiming it
The eyeball is fully adjustable and pivots to direct flow anywhere in the pool. Getting the returns pointed correctly is the simplest way to fix a pool with dead corners or one where debris always settles in the same place, and it costs nothing in pump energy.
