Product details

The Waterway 550-9230 is a self-aligning return fitting with a 3/4" eye. It is the insider style, which means it seats inside 1-1/2" pipe rather than threading into the wall fitting.

Aim is what a return does

A return fitting is not just a hole in the wall. The eyeball pivots so the stream can be pointed, and where you point it decides how the pool circulates. Aimed well, the returns push surface debris toward the skimmer and keep water moving in the corners. Aimed badly, or missing the eyeball entirely, one end of the pool goes stagnant no matter how long the pump runs.

The 3/4" eye

Narrowing the opening to 3/4" raises the speed of the water leaving the fitting, which is what gives a return its reach. The self-aligning design holds the aim you set instead of wandering back over the season.
