Product details

The Hayward SP1419D is a HydroStream directional flow eyeball return jet with a 3/4 inch opening, finished in white. It is the genuine Hayward fitting.

What the eyeball does

The eyeball sits inside the return housing and swivels, which lets you aim the returning water instead of just letting it dump straight out of the wall. Pointing returns to sweep the surface toward the skimmer, or to reach a corner that always collects leaves, is one of the cheapest circulation improvements available on a pool.

Choosing the opening size

The 3/4 inch opening is the largest of the common HydroStream sizes. A smaller opening throws water further and agitates the pool more aggressively, but adds head to the system. Hayward makes the same fitting with 3/8 inch and 1/2 inch openings if you want more velocity out of the same return line.

What is the difference between the 3/4, 1/2 and 3/8 inch eyeballs?

The opening size sets the outlet velocity. A smaller opening throws water further and stirs the pool harder for the same flow, at the cost of more head on the pump. The 3/4 inch is the mildest of the three.

Can I aim the return with this fitting?

Yes. That is the point of the eyeball design. It swivels in the housing so you can point the stream down, across or toward a dead corner.

Is this a genuine Hayward fitting?

Will this help my pool circulate better?
