Hayward SP1419BGR is a HydroStream return fitting with a 3/8 inch opening, in gray. It is the genuine Hayward part.
What it does
The return fitting is the last thing filtered water passes through on its way back into the pool. A HydroStream is the directional version: instead of letting the water fall out of the wall, it forms a stream and sends it where the fitting is pointed. Aim the returns to push the surface toward the skimmer and the pool collects its own debris.
Choosing the opening
The smaller the opening, the faster the water leaves and the further it reaches. This is the 3/8 inch, the narrow end of the range. Restricting returns does raise system pressure, so if you fit small openings everywhere, keep an eye on filter pressure and step up a size if it climbs.
