Product details

The Hayward SP1421E Insider HydroStream is a directional return fitting with a 1 inch opening, made for 1-1/2 inch return pipe. It carries a rotating eyeball that can be aimed and then locked so the return stream stays pointed where you set it.

Why the opening size matters

A return port left wide open dumps water into the pool without much reach. Narrowing it to 1 inch raises the speed of the stream, which is what pushes surface debris toward the skimmer and keeps water turning over in the far corners rather than stalling. If the pool has a dead zone that always collects leaves, the aim and the opening size of the returns are the two things worth changing first.

Setting it up

Point the eyeball slightly down and away from the skimmer to set up a circular flow across the pool. Aiming it upward at the surface will improve skimming but can also blow debris around, so most pools do better with a slightly downward angle. The white body matches standard white wall fittings.
