Hayward SP1022 is the threaded wall inlet fitting in white, 1-1/2 inch FIP on the pool side and 2 inch MIP behind the wall. It is the genuine Hayward part.
What it does
This is the fitting the filtered water comes back through. It threads into the return line and presents a 1-1/2 inch female opening at the pool wall, which is where a directional eyeball or other insert goes if you want to aim the flow.
The two thread sizes
Note that the ends are not the same. The wall side is 2 inch male thread and the pool side is 1-1/2 inch female. Check both against your plumbing before ordering, because getting one right and the other wrong is the usual mistake with wall fittings.
Fitting it
Because it is threaded rather than glued, it can be backed out and replaced later without cutting pipe. Use the sealant your plumbing calls for on the threads and take it up snug rather than forcing it, as overtightening splits plastic fittings.
