The Zodiac R0623300 is the replacement seal for the CLC500 Cyclonic Leaf Catcher. It is the genuine part, the same seal fitted when the canister left the factory.
What the seal does
A leaf catcher only works while the canister is airtight. The seal is what keeps the lid sealed against the body so the whole suction pull goes through the canister and pulls leaves in. Once it hardens, flattens or splits, the unit starts drawing air, suction at the cleaner falls off, and debris that should have been trapped ends up in the pump basket instead.
When to change it
Air bubbles in the pump lid, a hiss at the leaf catcher, or a cleaner that has slowed down for no other reason all point at the seal. It is a low cost service item and worth replacing before assuming the leaf catcher itself is worn out.
