Why the grids matter
A DE filter does its work through the layer of diatomaceous earth held on the fabric of the elements. Once that fabric tears, thins or pulls away from its frame, the powder washes through and comes back to the pool as a fine haze, and pressure readings stop making sense.
Replace the set, not one grid
Because this is sold as the complete assembly, every element in the filter is the same age and the same condition when you close the lid. Mixing a single new grid into a worn set usually means opening the filter again within a season.
