Product details

The Pentair 073829 is the high head impeller for the 7.5 horsepower C Series commercial pool pump, in both single phase and three phase builds. It is the genuine Pentair replacement.

High head versus standard

The C Series is sold in more than one flow range, and the impeller is what sets it. A high head pump uses a different cut than a standard one, so the two are not interchangeable. Read the number off the old impeller before you order, because fitting the wrong one changes the duty point of the whole system.

Why impellers get replaced

Impellers wear rather than break. Sand, grit and years of running erode the vane edges and open up the running clearance, and the pump gradually delivers less head for the same power. A fresh impeller puts the flow curve back where the system was designed to sit.

Is this the standard or the high head impeller?
High head. The C Series is built in both flow ranges and the impellers are not interchangeable, so check the number on the old one.
Does it suit a single phase or a three phase pump?
Both. Pentair lists 073829 for the 7.5 HP pump in 1PH and 3PH.
Will it fit a 5 HP or 10 HP C Series pump?
No. This impeller is cut for 7.5 HP. Each horsepower in the range has its own impeller.
How do I know my impeller is worn?
Flow and pressure fall away over time even with a clean basket and filter. Pull the impeller and look for eroded vane edges and opened up clearances.
