The Hayward W530 is the large leaf and debris canister, an in line trap that sits between the cleaner and the filter system and takes the coarse debris out of the water first.

Without a canister, every leaf a cleaner picks up ends up in the pump basket or against the filter. In leaf season that means pulling the pump lid several times a week and stripping the filter far more often than the media actually needs.
