The Hayward RCX26000PAK2 is the pulley bearing kit for AquaVac 500 Series robotic pool cleaners. It is the genuine Hayward part.
What goes wrong
The drive pulleys carry the tracks and turn constantly whenever the cleaner is running. Their bearings live in warm chlorinated water and eventually pick up grit. Once they do, the pulley no longer spins freely: the tracks drag, the drive motor works harder than it should, and coverage falls off because the cleaner cannot hold its pattern. Grinding or squealing from the drive side is the audible version of the same problem.
Before you order
This kit is the bearings. Hayward sells the drive pulley assembly separately, so pull the tracks and look at the pulley body as well. If the pulley itself is worn or cracked, bearings alone will not fix it. Since the cleaner has to come apart either way, it is worth checking the roller bearing guides at the same time.
