Product details

The Hayward W3SAS-PRO is the Salt & Swim 3C Pro salt chlorinator sized for in ground pools up to 30,000 gallons. Instead of adding chlorine by hand, the system makes it continuously from the salt already dissolved in the water.

Running it

Output and status are handled from an LED control panel on the unit, and a super chlorination setting is there for the days when the pool needs a heavy dose after a storm or a crowd. Power is a plug into a 120V GFCI outlet, so no dedicated hard wired circuit has to be run to it.

Plumbing and installation

The PRO version is the 2 in plumbing model, and its cell vessel is glued into the pipe run rather than joined with unions. That is permanent work, and Hayward calls for a pool professional to do it. If you want to fit the system yourself, the plain SAS model uses unions that are not glued and works with 1-1/2 in or 2 in plumbing.

One thing to confirm

This listing is described as the controller only, while the manufacturer feature list for the same model number covers the full system including the cell vessel. Ask us to confirm the contents before ordering so you are not left short a part at installation.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

Does this include the cell?
The listing is titled controller only, while the manufacturer feature list for the SAS-PRO describes the complete Salt & Swim 3C Pro system including the cell vessel. The two readings disagree, so confirm with us what is in the box before you order.
What size pool is it for?
In ground pools up to 30,000 gallons.
What plumbing size does it need?
The SAS-PRO is built for 2 in plumbing and the cell vessel glues into the pipe. The plain SAS model uses unions that are not glued and suits 1-1/2 in or 2 in plumbing, which makes it the easier one to fit yourself.
How is it powered?
It plugs into a 120V GFCI outlet.
