The Raypak 006805F is the genuine stainless steel sensor well, listed for the Raypak 207A, 267A and 337A Low NOx pool heaters.
What it does
A sensor well is a closed stainless pocket that reaches into the water path of the heater. The temperature sensor drops into that pocket and reads through the metal, so the sensor stays dry while still tracking the water. It is a simple part that has to hold pressure and resist heated, chemically treated water, which is why it is made in stainless.
When it gets replaced
Wells corrode from the inside over years of service. Once one starts weeping at the threads, or pits enough to lose its seal, the fix is a new well rather than a repair. The sensor itself is a separate part, so check whether you also need that before you put the heater back together.
