This is the Waterway 519-2090 replacement basket for the top mount spa skimmer. It is the genuine Waterway part, shaped to sit correctly in the skimmer throat.
What the basket does
Everything that blows into the spa gets pulled toward the skimmer, and the basket is what stops it there. Leaves, hair, insects and grit collect in the basket where you can tip them out, instead of packing into the pump strainer or wrapping the impeller.
When to replace it
Baskets are consumable. Sun and sanitizer make the plastic brittle over a few seasons, and once the wall or the rim cracks the basket stops holding what it catches. If yours is split, distorted or missing a section, change it rather than keep emptying it.
