The Waterway 519-2900 is the replacement basket for the above ground pool skimmer. It is the genuine Waterway part.
What the basket does
Everything the skimmer pulls off the surface, leaves, bugs and larger grit, is meant to stop in this basket. What gets past it travels down the suction line to the pump strainer, and anything that gets past that reaches the impeller. The basket is the first and cheapest line of defense in that chain.
When to change it
Baskets fail quietly. A split in the side wall or a broken rim still looks like a basket sitting in the skimmer, but debris now flows around it. Sun and chlorine make the plastic brittle over time, so give it a look each time you empty it and swap it out once it cracks or distorts.
