Product details

The Hayward HAXHLI1930 is the genuine 135 degree F hi-limit switch for H-Series pool heaters. It is the safety device that watches outlet water temperature and cuts the heater off if that temperature climbs past its setting.

Why hi-limits fail

A hi-limit spends its life in the heater header, cycling with every call for heat. Over the years the switch can fail open, and when it does the heater stops firing even though the water is cold and everything else looks normal. Low flow, a dirty filter or a closed valve can also trip a healthy limit, so it is worth confirming flow before condemning the switch.

Ordering the right one

Hayward uses hi-limits with different temperature ratings, and this one is the 135 F version. Read the rating printed on the switch you are pulling out and match it. It covers the H-Series family, including the H-Series and H-Series ED1 and ED2 electronic heaters in the 150 to 400 range and the Low NOx 250 and 400.

What does the hi-limit actually do?
It is a temperature safety switch. If water leaving the heater gets hotter than the switch rating, the hi-limit opens and shuts the heater down until the water cools.
Which temperature is this one?
135 degrees F. Hayward uses more than one limit rating, so read the number on the old switch and match it.
Could a bad hi-limit be why my heater will not fire?
Yes. The switch is wired in series with the safety circuit, so once it fails open the heater will not light even with normal water temperature and good gas supply.
Will it fit my H-Series?
It is the Hayward OEM hi-limit for the H-Series family, covering the H-Series and H-Series ED1 and ED2 electronic heaters 150 to 400 and the Low NOx 250 and 400.
