Product details

The Hayward SP1422D is the large Insider HydroStream, a directional flow inlet fitting in white with an extended flange.

What it does

A return fitting is not just a hole in the wall. The HydroStream narrows the opening down to a 3/4 inch eyeball, which speeds the returning water up and lets you point it. Aimed across the surface toward the skimmer, that stream is what keeps leaves and film moving to where they can be caught, instead of settling in the corners the circulation never reaches.

Setting it

The eyeball rotates freely and locks with the outside ring, so once you have the angle right it stays there through the season. The fitting is made for pools and spas plumbed with 1-1/2 inch slip fittings, and the extended Insider flange covers the wall opening for a tidy finish.

Choosing the size

Hayward lists several Insider HydroStreams. This is the large one with the 3/4 inch eyeball, and there is a standard 3/4 inch version and a 1 inch version as well, so match what is already in the wall.
