Product details

The Pentair 520272 is the genuine temperature sensor used across Pentair pool and spa automation, supplied with a 20 foot cable. The same part covers three roles, and the mounting position decides which one it fills.

Water, air or solar

As a water sensor it goes into the pipe between the filter pump and the filter, where it reads the circulating water so the system can hold the temperature you set. As an air sensor it is mounted in open air to report ambient temperature to the controller. As a solar sensor it is fitted next to the collectors on an unglazed system, or suspended between the collector and the glazing on a glazed system.

What it replaces

The 520272 replaces the earlier TS5T and STS5T sensors. It is not a replacement for the Compool TS5L sensor, so check which sensor your system uses before ordering.

Why sensors get changed

Temperature sensors live outdoors on a long cable and eventually drift or fail outright. When heating runs at the wrong time, solar never calls for flow, or the panel reads a temperature that is clearly wrong, the sensor is the first thing to check.

Is this one sensor or three different ones?
One sensor. Where you mount it decides whether it acts as the water, air or solar sensor.
Where does the water sensor go?
Into the pipe between the filter pump and the filter, so it reads circulating water.
How do I mount it as a solar sensor?
Next to the solar panels for unglazed collectors. For glazed collectors, suspend the sensor between the collector and the glazing.
Will it replace my old Compool sensor?
It replaces the TS5T and STS5T. It is not a replacement for the Compool TS5L sensor.
