Product details

The SuperPro G-178-9 is the diaphragm gasket for the Perflex DE filter, sold as the replacement for the 25 square foot model.

What it seals

A Perflex filter works by holding DE on a set of flex tubes inside a diaphragm assembly. The gasket is what closes the joint between that assembly and the filter body. Its whole job is to make sure every gallon goes through the coated tubes instead of slipping around the edge. Once the gasket is flattened, nicked or hardened, water bypasses the media, the pool stops clearing and DE finds its way back to the returns.

The part is named for the Perflex 25 square foot filter, and it is also cataloged among the Perflex EC30 and EC40 parts and the Perflex EX50 and EX50C parts. Those descriptions do not line up neatly, so check the gasket against the parts list for your own filter before you order.

Fitting

Seat the gasket clean and dry, with the mating surfaces wiped free of old DE and grit. Any debris trapped under a sealing face gives you the same bypass the new gasket was bought to cure.
