Product details

This is the replacement drive track belt for the Hayward SharkVAC XL robotic pool cleaner.

Why it matters

The belt is the only thing between the drive motor and the pool surface. When it is fresh it grips well enough to carry the cleaner up a wall and hold the coverage pattern it was designed to run. When it is worn smooth it slips, the cleaner starts missing sections, and it usually gives up on the walls first.

A normal wear part

Track belts abrade against plaster, tile and vinyl every time the cleaner runs, so replacing them is routine service rather than a repair. While the cleaner is apart it is worth looking at the belt on the other side as well.

What does the drive track belt do?
It is the loop the cleaner rides on. All the drive from the motor reaches the pool surface through it, so grip and pattern both depend on its condition.
Why has my SharkVAC XL stopped climbing the walls?
A slipping or worn drive track belt is the first thing to check. Without grip the cleaner cannot hold itself against a vertical surface.
Should I replace both belts at once?
It is worth inspecting both. They wear at different rates but usually reach the end of their life around the same time.
Is this a wear part?
Yes. The belt is in constant contact with plaster, tile or vinyl and abrades over time, so it is expected to be replaced during the cleaner life.
