Product details
The Hayward RCX97430 is the drive assembly bearing for the SharkVAC robotic pool cleaner, model RC9740. It is the genuine Hayward part, and Hayward notes it may also fit other Hayward model cleaners.
What it does
The drive assembly is what moves the cleaner across the floor and up the walls, and the bearing is what lets it turn freely under load. It spends its whole life submerged, turning through the fine grit the cleaner is picking up, which is why it is a wear part rather than a permanent one.
The symptoms
A bearing going out is usually audible first. The cleaner starts to grind or rattle as it drives, then a wheel begins to drag or turn unevenly, and climbing suffers before anything else. Left alone, the load moves onto parts that cost considerably more than the bearing.
