The Hayward HAXHXA1303 is the copper heat exchanger assembly for the H-Series 300,000 BTU pool heater. It is the genuine Hayward part, supplied as a complete assembly.
What the exchanger does
Everything the burner produces has to cross into the water somewhere, and the heat exchanger is that crossing point. It is also the component that pool chemistry attacks hardest. Low pH, high chlorine and years of flow eventually pit and split the tubes, and once an exchanger leaks the heater is finished until it is replaced.
Match the size
H-Series heaters run from 150 to 400 and each output has its own exchanger. This one is the 300. Take the model and BTU rating off the data plate before ordering, because the assemblies are not interchangeable between sizes.
Plan the job
Replacing an exchanger means opening the heater, which brings the o-ring set and union hardware into play. Those are separate Hayward numbers and are worth having in hand so the heater goes back together in one session.
