CMP 27182-009-000 is a heavy duty replacement skimmer basket for the U-3 skimmer, the model sold under the Swimquip name. It is built to roughly twice the wall thickness of the basket that came in the skimmer.
Why thickness matters
A skimmer basket is one of the few pool parts that gets handled every week. It gets lifted full and wet, tapped on the deck, and occasionally pried at when leaves pack in. Thin baskets crack at the rim and split down the side, and once cracked they let debris through to the pump. A thicker basket simply lasts longer under the same treatment.
Weighted so it stays put
A plastic encased metal weight sits in the base. As the skimmer fills, an unweighted basket wants to float up off its seat and let water bypass it. The weight holds this one down where it belongs.
