This is the Hayward key cover o-ring kit, part number PSXVZ2A, designed to fit Hayward PSV model valves. It is a new OEM Hayward part.
What it addresses
A diverter valve is sealed at the cover that holds the key down. Those o-rings spend their life compressed, warm and in treated water, and over a few seasons they harden and take a permanent set. The result is a slow weep at the top of the valve that gets worse every time somebody turns the handle.
Worth doing first
A seal kit is a small part of the cost of a replacement valve and does not disturb the plumbing. Unless the body itself is cracked or the key is scored, reseal the valve before you cut anything out.
