Pentair 51001000 is the O-389 quad ring that seals the lid on the 1-1/2 inch American Products side mount multiport valve.

Quad ring, not an O-ring

A quad ring has a four lobe cross section rather than a round one. It fits the same groove as an O-ring but it is less inclined to twist or roll when a cover is turned down onto it, which is exactly the duty a valve lid asks for.

Where it is used

The seal is listed for the Pentair American Products side mount multiport valves 501501 and 501601 in the 1-1/2 inch size. It sits at the lid, which is the joint that starts to seep once the seal has hardened.

Worth doing together

If the valve is coming apart for a spider gasket or a diverter, put a fresh lid seal in at the same time. It is the smallest part of the job and the one most likely to bring you back if it is skipped.
