Product details
This is the CMP replacement multiport valve label for a group of Pentair valves: 262504, 262505, 262506, 152165 and 272531.
Why it wears out first
A multiport valve body lives outdoors for a decade or more. The printed label on top of it does not. Sun, splash out and chlorine fade the markings until filter, backwash, rinse, waste, recirculate and closed are no longer legible, long before anything mechanical has gone wrong.
Why it is worth replacing
A multiport handle in the wrong position is not a cosmetic problem. Backwashing when you meant to filter wastes water, and moving the handle with the pump running puts pressure where the valve is not designed to take it. Fresh markings mean you know what position you are in before you start the pump.
