The Pentair 273063 is the stainless steel locking pin for the 2 inch Pentair and Pac-Fab PVC push pull valve, model 26-1165. It measures 1/8" in diameter and 1-1/8" long.
What it does
A push pull valve works by sliding a piston up and down inside the valve body to change flow. The locking pin is what keeps that assembly captive and located. If the pin is bent, sheared or missing, the valve loses its positive stop and the handle no longer holds where you set it.
Why stainless matters
This pin sits in a wet, chlorinated valve body for years. Pentair specifies stainless steel for it, and substituting a plated pin from a hardware store is a short lived repair. If you have the valve apart for a piston or o-ring service, it is worth putting a fresh pin in at the same time.
