Product details

This is the American Granby replacement handle for the two inch HMIP200 ball valve. It is the handle on its own, for a valve that is otherwise sound.

Why handles break

A ball valve that has sat in one position for a season or two gets stiff, and the handle is where all the force goes when someone finally turns it. The handle is the sacrificial part in that arrangement, which is why it cracks or shears off the stem while the valve body is still perfectly serviceable.

Before you fit it

Turn the stem with a pair of pliers and see how it feels. If the ball moves through its travel with reasonable effort, a new handle puts the valve back in service. If the stem barely moves, the valve is seized and a new handle will simply break the same way.
