Product details

The SuperPro G-416 is a spider gasket for the Sta-Rite and Pentair 1-1/2 inch side mount multiport valve, offered as a generic equivalent of 14971-SM10E12. It has a 5 spoke pattern, an 11/16 inch inside diameter and a 5-1/8 inch outside diameter.

What a spider gasket does

The spider sits in the valve seat and its spokes divide the ports from one another. Every position the handle selects works because the spider keeps the flow in one channel and out of the next. When the rubber compresses, hardens or tears, that separation stops being clean and water crosses between ports.

The symptoms

A failing spider usually shows up as water trickling out of the waste line while the valve is set to filter, pressure that never comes up quite right, or a backwash that will not clear. Those are seal problems rather than pump or filter problems, and the gasket is the first thing to check.

Before you order

Confirm the spoke count and both diameters against the gasket you are pulling out. Multiport spiders across brands look alike and a mismatch on the outside diameter or the spoke pattern will not seal.
