Product details

The Super-Pro G-406-9 is the multiport valve seat spider gasket that replaces Swimquip, Sta-Rite and Pentair part numbers 14971-05 and 14971-0005.

What the spider gasket does

A multiport valve works by pressing a rotating diverter against a sealing face. The spider gasket is that face: a rubber web with arms that separate the filter, backwash, rinse, waste, recirculate and closed ports from each other. The handle only means anything while those arms are sealing.

The symptoms of a worn one

When the gasket flattens, tears or comes unglued from the seat, water crosses between ports. The classic sign is a steady trickle out of the waste line with the valve set to filter, which owners often mistake for a leaking valve body. Poor pressure and water going the wrong way during rinse come from the same cause.

Fitting notes

Clean the seat down to bare plastic before the new gasket goes in. Old adhesive, grit or a scored seat will keep a brand new gasket from sealing, and the valve will behave exactly as it did before. Confirm the valve size against your unit, as this gasket is recorded against the 2 inch multiport.
