The Pentair 271151 is the genuine top valve o-ring for HiFlow 2 inch multiport valves, in both the top mount and side mount configurations. It measures 6-3/4 inches inside diameter with a 1/8 inch cross section.
What it seals
The multiport valve is a body with a rotating diverter under a bolted cover. This o-ring goes between the body and that cover. It is the seal that keeps the whole valve from weeping around its rim once the bolts are torqued down.
Reading the leak
Where water shows up tells you which seal has failed. Dripping from the joint around the top cover is this o-ring. Water running continuously to waste while the valve is set to filter is the spider gasket underneath, a different part. Get that distinction right before you order.
When the valve is open for any reason, replace this o-ring while you are in there. Lubricate it with a silicone pool lubricant, never a petroleum grease.
