Product details

The Pentair 270187Z is the replacement handle for the Pentair FullFloXF backwash valve, listed as item 1 in Pentair's replacement parts list for that valve. It is the handle only: the valve body, end caps, diverters and O-rings are separate parts.

What the handle does

The handle sets the FullFloXF valve to the filter or backwash position. Pentair's guide has you turn off the pump and release system pressure before moving the handle to backwash, run the pump until the water runs clean, shut it off and return the handle to filter. Pentair describes the valve as corrosion-resistant PVC with a large comfort-grip handle and molded position markings, for D.E. and sand filters, with a maximum operating pressure of 50 psi.

Fitting

Per the Pentair guide, the handle comes off by pulling it firmly straight up. To install the new one, press it on partway, rotate it until the arrow on the handle sits between the two arrows on the end cap, then press until it locks into place.

Before you order

A valve that is hard to turn does not always need a new handle. Pentair's troubleshooting chart points to dry or damaged seals, shaft seals or diverters, and says to service the valve. Replace the handle when it is cracked, broken or missing and the valve itself shifts and seals correctly. The end cap (270190Z), outlet diverter (270199Z) and inlet diverter (270200Z) each have their own part numbers.
