Product details

The Pentair 273089 is the replacement handle for a 5/8 inch inside diameter plastic valve shaft. It is listed for the 2 inch Pentair push pull valve and the PacFab 2 inch PVC push pull valve, part 26-1165.

Why handles break

A push pull valve is worked by hand, and every bit of the force needed to break the shaft loose goes through the handle. Once the o-rings inside the valve dry out and grab, the effort climbs, and the handle is the weakest thing in the chain. It cracks at the shaft or snaps clean off, usually at the start of the season when the valve has sat untouched for months.

Fix the cause too

Fitting a new handle gives you something to pull on again, but if the valve was stiff before it will be stiff after. Service the shaft o-rings at the same time, with fresh lubricant or new seals, so the replacement handle is not asked to do the same job that destroyed the last one.

Does the shaft come with it?
No. This is the handle alone. The shaft and the valve internals are separate parts.
My valve is very stiff to operate. Will a new handle fix that?
A new handle restores something to grip, but stiffness usually comes from dried out o-rings on the valve shaft. Lubricate or replace those as well, or the new handle will break the same way the old one did.
