The Pentair 271160 is the white valve spring washer used in the multiport valve stem assembly. It measures 1-5/8 inches outside diameter, 1-1/4 inches inside diameter and 3/32 of an inch thick.

Where it sits

A multiport valve seals because a spring holds the rotor down against the seat. The washer is part of that stack, spreading the spring load so the stem assembly stays square. When it is missing, cracked or has been replaced with something close but not right, the rotor no longer seats evenly and water crosses between ports, which is the classic symptom of sand or DE returning to the pool.
