Product details

The Pentair 271148Z is the diverter gasket for 2 in. multiport backwash valves. Most people know it as the spider gasket, after the star shape of the seal. It is the genuine PacFab part, also listed as 271148.

What it does

Inside a multiport, the diverter presses down onto this gasket. The arms of the star separate the ports from each other, so when the handle says filter, water goes to the filter and nowhere else. As the rubber flattens, hardens or tears, water crosses between ports. The usual symptom is a steady stream out of the waste line while the valve is set to filter, and a pool that slowly drops.

Size and fit

6.75 in. in diameter and 0.64 in. thick. It is used on Pentair PacFab 2 in. top mount and side mount multiport valves, American Products 2 in. H and M series multiports, and the 6 position top mount clamp on valves 501130, 501131 and 501231. Compare the old gasket to the dimensions above before fitting the new one.
