The Pentair 072431Z is the positive diverter seal for 2 inch diverter valves. It is the genuine Pentair part.
What the seal does
A positive diverter is meant to close a port outright, not just bias flow toward one side. The seal is what makes that possible: it presses against the valve body so the shut side is genuinely shut. As the seal hardens with age and chemical exposure, water finds its way past, and a port that reads closed at the handle is still passing flow. That shows up as a spa that will not hold its return, or a suction line that keeps pulling when it should be isolated.
Before you order
Confirm the valve size. This is the 2 inch seal, and the 1-1/2 inch valve uses a different Pentair part. While the valve is apart it is worth looking at the shaft and the cover o-rings, since a valve that has been stiff to turn has usually taken its wear in more than one place.
