Product details

The Pentair 273109 is the o-ring kit for the ABS backwash slide valve. It is the genuine Pentair seal set, supplied as a kit so the valve can be put back together on all new rubber.

What goes wrong

A slide valve seals against o-rings that ride on the plunger shaft. As the rubber flattens and hardens, two things happen: water starts bypassing internally so the filter dribbles to waste even in the filter position, and the handle gets stiff and awkward to push and pull. Both point at the seals rather than the valve body.

What you are buying

This is the seal kit, not a complete valve. It suits the ABS bodied backwash slide valve; multiport valves take a spider gasket and a different set of parts. Rebuilding on fresh o-rings costs a fraction of a new valve and takes an afternoon.

What valve is this kit for?

Is this a complete rebuild kit?
It is the o-ring kit, so it covers the seals in the valve. Hard parts such as the body and handle are not included.
Why is water going to waste when the valve is in filter?
