The Pentair 272511 is the diverter shaft o-ring for PacFab top mount valves. It is the genuine Pentair part, listed with Sand Dollar sand filter parts and with PacFab top mount 1-1/2 inch valve parts for models 261124, 261130 and 262506.
The leak it fixes
The diverter shaft is the stem the handle turns to move between filter, backwash and the other positions. Where that shaft passes out of the valve body it is sealed by this o-ring. Over years of chlorine and handle movement the rubber hardens and takes a set, and water begins to weep or spray from around the handle whenever the pump runs.
Fitting
Work with the pump off and the system depressurized. Use a silicone based pool lubricant on the new o-ring so it slides into place without rolling or nicking on the shaft. If the valve is already apart, it is worth replacing the other seals in it at the same time.
