The Pentair 98205000 is the sight glass screw for the American Products 1-1/2 in. side mount multiport valve, models 501501 and 501601. It is an 8-32 thread screw, 1-3/4 in. long, and it is the genuine Pentair part.
What it does
The sight glass is the small window that lets you watch backwash water until it runs clear. It is held to the valve body by screws, and those screws carry the clamping load that keeps the window sealed. Sitting in a wet, chlorinated environment, they corrode and their heads strip, and once one will no longer pull down the glass starts to weep.
Before you order
This is the screw only. The sight glass and its gasket are separate parts, so check whether the leak is coming from a loose screw or from a hardened gasket before you order. If the tapped hole in the valve body has stripped rather than the screw, a new screw will not solve it.
