How they work
The covers fit over a standard lamp and tint what comes out of it. Nothing about the fixture or the lamp changes, which is why the system exists: you get colored light from a plain halogen fixture, and you can change the color whenever you feel like it by swapping covers.
When to replace them
Lens covers spend their life against heat on one side and pool water on the other. Over the years they cloud, the color washes out, and the plastic can craze or crack. A fresh set brings the color back for a fraction of what a fixture costs.
