Product details

The Hayward SPX0540Z16A is the light retainer screw kit for Duralite underwater lights, supplied as the face rim lockscrew with its fastener. The screw measures 1-1/2 inches long by 5/16 of an inch wide.

What it holds

This is the single screw at the top of the light that clamps the face rim against the niche. Hayward lists it for the Duralite range, models SP0540 through SP0570.

Handling it

The lockscrew lives underwater for years, and it is the part that seizes or corrodes long before the fixture does. When it is time to fit the new one, tighten it snug rather than hard: it is pulling the rim onto a gasket, and overdriving it can distort the rim and undo the seal you were trying to restore.
