Product details

The SuperPro O-101-9 is a 20 inch tank o-ring, cross listed under the part number 24700-0072. It is the seal that keeps the two halves of a tank together and dry.

When you need one

A tank o-ring is usually replaced for one of two reasons: the tank has started weeping at the seam, or you are already in there for other work and the ring has been in service long enough that putting it back would be false economy. Rubber that has been squeezed under a clamp band for years takes a permanent set, and a ring that has set will not reliably reseal.

Fitting it

Clean the groove out before the new ring goes in, and give the ring a coat of a silicone based o-ring lubricant. That helps it seat evenly instead of rolling or pinching as the tank closes, and it makes the next teardown far less of a fight.
