Waterway 805-0339 is the o-ring for the bulkhead coupler on Crystal Water filters. It is listed for both the Crystal Water cartridge filter and the Crystal Water DE filter.
Where it sits
The bulkhead coupler is the fitting that takes plumbing through the wall of the filter tank. Everything the pump pushes through the filter is held back at that pass through by this one o-ring. When the rubber goes hard, flattens or nicks on reassembly, water starts tracking down the outside of the tank, and it is easy to blame the tank clamp or the lid when the leak is actually here.
Fitting
Clean the groove and the mating face before the new ring goes in, and give it a light film of a silicone based o-ring lubricant. Do not reach for petroleum grease: it swells the rubber and shortens the life of the seal. Once a joint has been broken, fit a new ring rather than putting the old one back.
