Product details

The CMP 21098-150-000 is a 1-1/2 inch copper to PVC adapter, a transition fitting for pool plumbing. It is also listed under the shorter part number 21098-150.

Why a transition fitting

Copper and PVC do not join to each other directly. Solvent cement bonds PVC to PVC and nothing else, so a copper run meeting PVC needs a fitting built for the job. That situation is common on older equipment pads, where the original copper plumbing survives and everything replaced since has been PVC.

Getting the joint right

Each end of the adapter has its own correct preparation. Clean and prepare both to the instructions supplied with the fitting, and do not substitute one method for the other. A pool plumbing joint sits under pressure every time the pump runs, and a joint that was improvised rather than made properly tends to announce itself in the middle of the season.
