Product details

The CMP PRO Tools 21063-204-000 is a long, high temperature self-sealing union that connects a 2 inch male pipe thread to a 2 inch socket. It is the professional grade version of the fitting, finished in black.

The self-sealing part

The seal is made by a union T-gasket built into the fitting, so the joint does not depend on sealing tape or pipe dope. That removes the usual source of a slow weep and makes the union quicker to assemble and quicker to take apart again.

Where the long, high temperature body matters

Material that withstands high temperatures is what you want on a run that carries hot water. The long pattern buys working room on a tight equipment pad, and because it is a union rather than a fixed fitting, the connection can be broken for service without anyone cutting pipe.

Do I need Teflon tape or pipe dope on this?
No. It uses a self-sealing union T-gasket, which is what makes the seal. Tape and dope are not needed on the union joint.
