The 42002-0034Z is the heater top for the MasterTemp gas pool heater, the molded cover that closes the top of the heater cabinet.
What it does
The top is not decorative. It is the roof over the burner and the electrical compartment, and it is what keeps rain, leaves and yard debris out of the heater. Once a top has cracked, warped or gone missing, water finds the control board, the wiring and the ignition hardware underneath, and those repairs cost far more than the cover.
Fitting
It is the factory part, molded to drop onto the existing cabinet. Work from the MasterTemp parts breakdown for the fastener locations, and inspect the cabinet edges for corrosion while the old top is off.
