Pentair UltraTemp 110 Heat Pump, 108K BTU, 240V, 460932

The Pentair UltraTemp 110 is a 108,000 BTU pool heat pump running on 240V, sold as part 460932. A heat pump moves heat out of the outside air into the pool water rather than burning fuel to make it, which is why running costs sit so far below a gas or electric heater doing the same job.

Controls

The LCD control board uses a menu driven readout that writes messages out in full words, so there are no codes to look up when something needs attention, and the self diagnostic software watches the unit while it runs. Dual thermostats give separate settings for a pool and spa combination, which stops the system overheating one while it satisfies the other. AutoSet goes a step further and overrides the time clock, calling the circulation pump on and off as needed to hold the water where you set it.

Cool weather operation

An automatic defrost feature reads refrigerant temperature and prevents the unit from freezing, extending how far into the shoulder season it will keep working. A thermostatic expansion valve controls refrigerant flow so the unit holds its efficiency and output across a wider range of conditions rather than only at one design point.

Installation and integration

The cabinet is a corrosion resistant plastic composite chosen for severe climates and pool chemicals, and the unit plumbs in with 2 inch connections. It is ETL listed, and its BTU and efficiency performance is certified independently by AHRI. Pentair lists it as compatible with all of its automated control packages, so an IntelliTouch or EasyTouch owner can run the heater from the same panel as everything else.
