Product details

The Hayward SPX1099B is the replacement basket for the SP1099 series front access spa skimmer. It is the genuine Hayward part, shaped to the skimmer it belongs in rather than a generic basket that has to be forced into place.

Sizing

The top opening is 4-1/2 in. by 5-1/8 in., the basket stands 3-1/2 in. tall, and the body tapers to 1-3/4 in. by 4-3/16 in. at the bottom. Those numbers are what let it seat squarely in the throat and still lift straight out when it is full.

Why it is worth changing early

A skimmer basket takes the first hit from every leaf, bug and seed that crosses the water. Plastic goes brittle in sun and chemicals, and once a basket cracks or the rim breaks away, debris flows past it. From there it collects in the pump strainer, and anything small enough goes on to the impeller. Replacing a split basket is the cheapest maintenance on the pad.
