Product details

The Hayward SPX1082D is the plastic basket support ring for Hayward inground skimmers. It is the genuine Hayward part.

What it does

The support ring sits inside the skimmer and holds the basket at the right height. It is a small piece that nobody thinks about until it breaks, and then the basket drops down, sits at an angle and stops sealing against the throat. Leaves and grit slip around the edge and head for the pump strainer instead of staying in the basket where they belong.

When to replace it

Pull the basket and look at the ring. If it is cracked, distorted or simply gone, replace it. It is a cheap part and there is no benefit in nursing a broken one through another season.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

What does the support ring do?
It sits in the skimmer and holds the basket at the correct height so it seats squarely in the throat.
What is it made of?
Plastic.
Is it a genuine Hayward part?
Yes. It is the Hayward OEM part, number SPX1082D.
My basket keeps sitting crooked, is this the cause?
It is a common one. If the support ring is cracked or missing, the basket drops and tilts, and debris gets past it toward the pump.
