Product details

The Hayward CX900B is the filter head with vent valve for the Star Clear Plus cartridge filter range. It is the genuine Hayward part, supplied complete with the vent valve already fitted.

Which filters

Star Clear Plus cartridge filters C751, C900, C1200, C1750 and C1900. Hayward also lists it for the Pro Grid DE separation tanks DE-900 and DE-1100.

Color

Hayward now supplies this head in black only. The tan version has been discontinued, so a tan filter takes the black head as its replacement.

What it does

The head closes the top of the filter tank and carries the vent valve used to bleed air after servicing. Years of sun and pressure cycling craze the plastic, and once the head splits at the vent boss or across the seal face it will not hold pressure. That is the point at which it gets replaced.

No. Hayward now supplies this head in black only. The tan version has been discontinued.
Does the vent valve come with it?
Yes. CX900B is the head with the vent valve fitted, so there is nothing else to buy for the air relief.
Why would the head need replacing?
Sun and pressure cycling eventually craze the plastic. Once the head splits at the vent boss or the seal face, it will not hold pressure and a new head is the fix.
